Kenyan President Inspects the Nairobi River Basin Ecological Restoration Project EPC-Contracted by CEEC

Recently, Kenyan President William Ruto inspected the Nairobi River Basin Ecological Restoration Project, which is contracted by China Energy Engineering Group Guangxi Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of CEEC, under an EPC model. During the inspection, President Ruto received comprehensive briefings on the Project’s master design, construction progress, and phased achievements, with a detailed review of core sub-projects, including the sewage treatment plant and the remediation of the Dandora landfill site.

Walking along the riverbank, President Ruto inspected ongoing construction areas and commended the completed flood control sections. He underscored that the Nairobi River is “the lifeline of Kenya’s capital,” and noted that the Project “goes beyond ecological restoration — it is vital for people’s livelihoods and the nation’s image.” President Ruto urged CEEC to maintain rigorous quality standards while accelerating the project delivery to achieve tangible environmental improvements for local communities.
