On July 30 local time, the groundbreaking ceremony for the China-Aided Wind Power Project in Uzbekistan was held in Tashkent. The Project is managed by China Energy Engineering Group Xinjiang Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of CEEC. The ceremony was attended by Umid Mamadaminov, Deputy Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan, and Sun Yan, Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Uzbekistan.
Mamadaminov stated that the Project is expected to generate 50 GWh of green electricity annually, enough to power 20,000 households while saving 14 million cubic meters of natural gas. The Project will create multiple new job opportunities and significantly contribute to Uzbekistan’s green energy transition.
The Project, funded by the Chinese government, stands as a significant achievement in bilateral cooperation between the Chinese and Uzbek governments. It involves the installation of four 5MW wind turbines, with a total installed capacity of 20 MW. As for supporting infrastructure, the Project includes the construction of a 35 kV switchyard and approximately 2 km of new roads, improvements to approximately 3 km of access roads, and the establishment of four wind turbine installation platforms, with a planned construction duration of 12 months.
