CEEC Establishes Clean Energy Research Institute in Saudi Arabia

On July 31, the inauguration ceremony for the CEEC (Middle East) Clean Energy Research Institute was held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.

Li Xinsheng, Deputy General Manager of CEEC, stated that the Research Institute aims to deliver a series of landmark achievements within three years and develop into a world-class industry-academia-research hub within five years.

Fahad Al-Otaibi, Executive Director of the R&D and Innovation Division at Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), remarked: “We anticipate that the Clean Energy Research Institute will serve as a key platform, fostering multi-stakeholder collaboration in building an industry-academia-research ecosystem and advancing international partnerships. This will further strengthen Saudi-China cooperation in addressing global energy transition challenges while capitalizing on emerging opportunities.”

Khaled Almedbel, Vice President of ACWA Power, emphasized: “The establishment of the Clean Energy Research Institute by a Chinese enterprise underscores its recognition of Saudi Arabia’s strategic importance and its long-term commitment to the market. We look forward to enhancing China-Saudi Arabia cooperation to drive sustainable economic growth in Saudi Arabia.”
