CEEC Completes Installation of First BESS Container for Central Asia’s Largest Energy Storage Station

On July 23 local time, the Tashkent Solar Energy Storage Project in Uzbekistan, jointly undertaken by CEEC International, China Energy Engineering Group Zhejiang Thermal Power Construction Co., Ltd., and China Energy Engineering Group Anhui Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd., achieved a critical milestone with the successful installation of its first battery energy storage system (BESS) container. This marks the formal commencement of equipment installation and system integration for Central Asia’s largest energy storage station under the Project, paving the way for full-capacity grid connection and subsequent operation.

Co-developed by ACWA Power and Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy under an Independent Power Producer (IPP) framework, the Project features a 334MW/500MWh single-stage distributed storage system comprising 280 BESS containers. Upon full commissioning, the station will store over 500,000 kWh of renewable energy per charge cycle, providing reliable clean power to approximately one million residents.
