CEEC Wins Bid for Egypt’s First Waste-to-Energy Project

On June 1 local time, the Abu Rawash Waste-to-Energy Project, Egypt’s first waste-to-energy initiative jointly promoted by China Energy International Group Co., Ltd. and China Energy Engineering Group Jiangsu Power Design Institute Co., Ltd. was successfully awarded, marking CEEC’s breakthrough in the Egyptian market.

The Project, located in Giza Province, Egypt, features a total installed capacity of 30MW and a daily waste treatment capacity of 1,200 tons. It involves the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of the entire power plant. The project owner is Renergy Group Partners LLC (“Renergy”), a joint state-private enterprise established by the Egypt’s Ministry of Military Production, Green Tech Egypt LLC, and Bahrain’s OAK Group Holdings. As a strategic project initiated by Egypt to promote municipal solid waste recycling and alleviate urban environmental pollution, it is expected to significantly reduce waste accumulation, improve residents’ living environment, deliver dual economic and social benefits, and pioneer green and low-carbon development of Egypt’s waste-to-energy sector upon completion.
