CEEC Consortium Wins Contract for PV Plus Energy Storage Project in Oman

On November 25, the consortium comprising China Power Engineering Construction Group International Engineering Co., Ltd., East China Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd., and China Energy Engineering Group Hunan Power Construction Co., Ltd. signed the EPC Contract for the Ibri Phase III 700MW Solar PV and 150MWh Energy Storage Power Plant Project in Oman with enterprises including Masdar, OQ, KOMIPO, and Al Khadra.

Located in Ibri City, Oman, the project is a key component of Oman’s energy diversification and its “Vision 2040”. It involves the construction of a 700MW PV power station and a supporting 150MWh energy storage system. Employing the ground-mounted solar tracking PV technology, the project will effectively smooth PV power output fluctuations and enhance the grid’s hosting capacity for clean energy through the innovative “PV Plus Energy Storage” model, delivering stable and reliable green electricity to the local community.

Scheduled for commercial operation on November 4, 2026, the project is expected to generate approximately 1.6 billion kWh of clean electricity annually upon full commissioning, enough to power hundreds of thousands of local households. It will play a significant role in optimizing the local energy mix and driving sustainable development.
