On July 15 local time, the Nzilo II Hydropower Station in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), constructed by China Gezhouba Group No. 1 Engineering Co., Ltd., successfully completed river diversion, marking the project’s transition into the main construction phase.

Located on the Lualaba River mainstream in Lualaba Province, DRC, the project features a total installed capacity of 200 MW and a regulating reservoir capacity of 202 million cubic meters, making it one of the largest hydropower projects currently under construction in southeastern DRC. Upon completion, it will significantly alleviate electricity shortages in the region’s mining areas, helping mining enterprises reduce power costs and accelerate their green and low-carbon transition.
